College Planning
Program Insight
Continuing education should be an option for everyone.
We have over 13 years of success helping First Generation students attend college! Continuing education should be an option for everyone, and Gateway Educational Services is dedicated to ensuring that every student and their family feel empowered and inspired as they take that next step
College Readiness Program
The College Readiness Program has two components, each providing the essential support needed for college success. We believe a college education should not be a maybe — but a definite for every child.
Test Prep Component
ACT/SAT readiness across reading, vocabulary, grammar and core math.
Application Component
1:1 college success coaching from college selection through submission.
Step one
College Test Prep Program
Our Test Prep Program is one step in the process of making College a reality, so that they can look ahead to the ACT/SAT reading comprehension with confidence by going over the key vocabulary and grammar used.
We help strengthen their sessional math skills in the areas of Algebra 1, Geometry, and basic operations in 1-1 tutoring sessions. We help students understand their learning styles to ensure that, beyond high school, they are prepared for the journey ahead. Guest speakers are invited to inform and inspire students about the college experience, what to expect, and how to plan.
Step Two
College Application Support Services
College Application Support is offered July through December in the Senior Year. Enrollment for this program is available each December.
This second component of our college readiness program supports selecting colleges, writing college essays and completing the Common App, CSU Portal and UC Portal. Students meet one on one with a college success coach on a weekly basis, with parents regularly updated on the application process.
We also offer financial planning and support for parents. We support each cohort and stay in contact with our senior graduates to support their academic matriculation. After their first year, they are eligible to return and work as tutors during the summer.
We want to ensure their success beyond the Santa Barbara County classrooms.
